about us

Quail Holla Youth Ministries (QHYM) is a community of middle and high school students, their parents, and other leaders within the larger Quail Hollow Presbyterian Church community.  We seek to provide Christian education, Christ-centered community, resources for family faith formation, and a circle of friends for all of the folks just mentioned.  We have four main program areas:

  • Youth Group (most Sundays from 4-6 pm): YG is our main weekly get-together where 6th to 12th graders meet for fun and devotional time, usually revolving around a topical lesson.  Sometimes we watch movies, sometimes it’s games, sometimes it’s art projects, and sometimes it’s something entirely different.  But the real point of YG is to enjoy being a community of friends and peers together.
  • Church School (every Sunday from 9:45-10:45 am): CS is where we dive into the Bible and explore the confusing, inspiring, sometimes scary, sometimes challenging text that forms the foundation of our faith.  We do this through a variety of activities to make the stories and people and truths come alive and jump off the page into our daily lives.
  • Small Groups (high school: 2:20-6:00 pm; middle school: 6:45-7:45 pm): SG is where the rubber hits the road as we learn how to act, think, talk as disciples of Christ.  It’s all about unlearning what our culture teaches us and learning how to apply what our faith teaches to our every day lives.  SG is a lot of deep discussion that brings in our experiences and movies/TV/music to broaden our perspective on the world outside.
  • Individual Spiritual Development Program: The ISDP is a self-driven way to study the theology that makes up our faith and learn about our 5 purposes.  As students go through the 5 purposes, they learn who God has created them to be and what it is they are on this earth to do.  The ultimate goal for the ISDP is for the student to create and lead a ministry either in or out of our church, the culmination of the talents, passions, and gifts he or she has been given by God.
